From Kirami's Waste Materials to Sauna Products – PURYE x KIRAMI

Why a sauna pouch?

We’ve partnered with PURYE to transform leftover materials from our production into something new and exciting. The result? Stylish and functional sauna bags, each with a unique story to tell!

How did it all begin?

We had a problem – PURYE had the solution. During the manufacturing of our saunas and hot tubs, we realized that some of our leftover materials were going to waste without a clear purpose. Determined to nd a sustainable use for these surplus resources, we joined forces with PURYE to create innovative and functional products from what was once considered waste.

The journey of the materials

We deliver modular saunas worldwide, and to ensure our products arrive intact, we pack them carefully. Around the sauna modules, we build a wooden frame for protection against impacts. Over this frame, we attach a black fabric cover to shield the shipment from rain and debris. When cutting the fabric for our saunacovers, we end up with leftover pieces measuring 48x48 cm from each corner. Together with PURYE, we found a new purpose for the leftover pieces.

From PET bottles to textiles

The threads used in the fabric are made from PET bottles. Bottles collected from the oceans are transformed into threads and become part of durable textiles.

PURYE x KIRAMI

is a brand founded by young entrepreneurs Emil and Niklas, who seek innovative uses for discarded and surplus materials. They believe many materials that often end up as waste can be repurposed into other useful applications. "Even when some materials have reached the end of their previous lifecycle, they can often nd innovative and practical new uses." – Emil Sjölund, PURYE

Emil and Niklas took our leftover materials to a sewing workshop for experimentation. The fabric left over from saunas proved to be an excellent choice for the exterior of the sauna-bag. For the bottom of the bag, sturdy scraps from insulation lids were used. This collaboration resulted in a product that repurposes surplus materials from saunas and hot tubs.

Why a sauna pouch?

PURYE specializes in creating innovative products from surplus materials. They’ve previously made items from leftover cargo straps, surplus welding suit fabrics, old hot air balloons, and recycled sails. At Kirami, we wanted to create something from our surplus fabric that embodies our brand’s core: saunas and bathing.

The idea of sauna pouches came naturally! Our customers frequently ask for products that make it easier to carry sauna essentials. They wanted practical solutions that allow them to bring everything they need while also reecting a story of sustainability and creativity.

Product Manufacturing

PURYE produces its items in a small sewing workshop in Sastamala, a town known for its rich history in bag craftsmanship. Skilled local seamstresses, masters of traditional Finnish handiwork, ensure the quality of every product. Thanks to their expertise, PURYE products proudly carry both the Design from Finland and Key Flag symbols.
