Bathing outdoors is a very welcome counterbalance to a busy family life with children.

"The most fun the kids have had is bathing in the rain!"

When planning the renovation of the terrace of their detached house, Titta and Thomas, parents of a family with children from the city of Kotka, knew from the very beginning that they wanted to have a hot tub on their new terrace, where the whole family could enjoy warm baths in the peace and quiet of their own yard, surrounded by nature. The family of five chose Kirami's M-size hot tub, which has been in use all year round!

"Originally, we thought that our family's hot tubbing would happen mainly during the warm summer months, but suddenly the summer has been overtaken by other seasons," Titta reveals with a smile. "On dark autumn evenings, the starry sky looks incredibly bright while bathing, and in winter frosts, the warm water feels wonderful surrounded by all the snow!"

When building the new terrace, Titta and Thomas started to think about the positioning of the hot tub well in advance.

"We placed the heater a good four metres from the house." Thomas explains. The hot tub is situated in the corner of the sun terrace, with a stunning view of the nearby Kymijoki River. It is also nicely sheltered in the backyard, so that there is no direct line of sight to the hot tub from neighbours or visitors to the village, and we can bathe in complete privacy."

The hot tub was embedded into the sun terrace and, to ensure a level base, Thomas poured a concrete base under the terrace where the hot tub was placed.

"The installation of the hot tub itself was easy," Titta recalls. "We had relatives helping us to move the hot tub in place, and then Thomas mounted the heater and the pipes. We were able to take our first bath that very evening!"

Kirami's hot tub has been in heavy use and it heats up in the backyard regularly. There is a glazed terrace next to the hot tub to have a relaxing time after bathing.

"The hot tub has been a great purchase for our family! The children enjoy spending time in the warm water, and also playing in the water. Once we also organised a pool party for the kids and their friends! The most fun the kids have had is bathing in the rain. So feel free to test different seasons and weather conditions for taking a bath." Thomas advises.

Bathing outdoors is a very welcome counterbalance to a busy family life with children.

"In the hot tub, we can talk about the whole family's news and topics in a peaceful atmosphere," says Titta. "It's like a home spa in our own backyard! Plus, it gives our relationship an extra boost, as we can spend date nights in the peace and quiet of our own home, but still doing something special. It's lovely to chill out in the hot tub and listen to the sounds of nature. It's good for the body and the mind."

The family uses an insulated cover from Kirami, which allows the water to heat up faster and keeps the warmth for longer. It also increases safety in a family with children.

"The best thing is that with heating just once, we can bathe all weekend long, just by adding wood to the heater when needed," Thomas is happy to add.
